The Mutiny Fleet was 'berthed' by Heavy Seas brewers who were discovered secretly brewing small batches of big beers to amuse the palates of their fellow crew. Since most secrets are best kept bottled up, we're bringing you these big flavor extrAARGHdinary brews in 22oz bombers. Embrace your inner pyrate and join the Mutiny! You you sail by the call of the Sirens, if a stout was in their hands?
Upon opening, this brew produced little to no smoke.
Appearance:
Nice, thick pour with a finger thick, somewhat creamy, mocha colored head, that doesn't linger (it was gone after a minute)
Aroma:
strong chocolate smell with hints of coffee mixed with a slight bite from the alcohol
Taste:
Right from the start, the Siren Noire is a bit on the thin side. I like my stouts with a little more body. The beer does have a well balanced blend of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate that is quite warming with the 8.0% ABV. The finish is drying and warm with a bit of bitterness.
Rating:
This beer left a bit to be desired, although the flavor and aroma were pleasing, based on my expectations of chocolate stouts, This beer did not quite meet up to par. Almost as if something was missing. This could be because of the 8% Alc/Vol. Which is apparent. It left my taste buds wanting more flavor.
Overall, I give this beer a 7/10
