Drifter Pale Ale – Widmer Brothers Brewing Co.
From The Bottle: The Original Drifter pale Ale
5.70% ABV
Appearance: This ale poured a nice copper tan color with perfect clarity. There was an ample two fingers of tan head which was rather short lived. There is some modest lacing in the glass.
Aroma: Wonderful aroma of clover, honey, and malt with some dried hay as well.
Taste: Nice upfront flavor of sweet malt with some bitter hop bite to follow. After my palate cleared, I detected some grassy notes that seemed out of place and they detracted somewhat from the experience. All-in-all, not a bad tasting experience, and one of the better pale ales I've tasted. Modestly rich for a pale ale with the appropriate amount of cling on the tongue.
Drinkability: A light and refreshing brew. Easily drinkable and one of its strongest attributes. Would gladly sip another.
Serving type: bottle
Overall Rating: This is a good beer, I will probably get it again. I would give this beer an overall rating of 9/10. This rating comes primarily from the taste, aroma, and drinkability of this beer, which are all great in my opinion, however, on these aspects alone, this beer only gets a 8/10, that extra point is from the price point. This beer is cheap for the quality. Good Job Widmer Brothers!
